Emmaus Foundation Programme offers a unique opportunity to support newly arrived students in the country with diverse educational backgrounds. It is especially beneficial for those at the early stages of learning English. We have named our program after the road to Emmaus where Jesus appeared to two disciples walking home. They were lost and confused in more ways than one due to their circumstances, and Jesus met them and walked with them the wrong way he listened to them and understood where they were before he spoke to them and helped them move forward emotionally and intellectually to a place of hope. This is a model we take seriously when we’re working with our young people who are asylum seekers and refugees.
The courses offered include Mathematics, English Language, ICT, PSHE and PE. Additionally, students whose English proficiency allows them to engage without language barriers have the option to join Year 10 GCSE classes and follow a 2 year GCSE course to exams. This curriculum incorporates Functional Skills exams at different levels and other learning opportunities to facilitate students' academic progression and preparation for life.
In addition to the above curriculum subjects, the Foundation Programme includes:
Language support. To provide the best possible support to our students, we conduct initial assessments in English and Mathematics at the start of our programme. Based on the results, students receive a tailored timetable and additional language sessions, plus participation in the Freshstart reading programme.
ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network): ASDAN programmes offer a range of curriculum enrichment activities aimed at developing personal and employability skills. The students will get the chance to learn life skills, as well as learning about the local culture and preparing them for life.
Access to the Post 16 Bursary Scheme. The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help eligible students overcome specific financial barriers so they can remain in education.
Enrichment opportunities. Although the focus of time in the sixth form will be on academic studies, we recognise the importance for students to develop the skills and knowledge for life after studying at Trinity Catholic School. We encourage all sixth form students to participate in the extracurricular life of the school, by involvement in a range of enrichment opportunities. For example, gardening, cooking, managing budgets, Creative Arts and physical education.

High expectations for behaviour and attitude. Sixth form students at Trinity are expected to be positive role models for all students in our school community. As such, they must adhere to the highest standards in their behaviour and attitude to learning. In particular, expectations for dress code and attendance and punctuality are detailed below:
Dress Code: The expected dress code for Trinity Sixth Form is smart clothes.
Suit or smart trousers + smart jacket/blazer/ jumper or smart skirt/dress/ + smart jacket/blazer/ jumper
Smart shirt (tie optional) or smart blouse/ top no logos
Smart shoes – no trainers/pumps/canvas shoes/mules/sliders
(Optional for cold weather) Jumper or cardigan – no big logos, sports tops or hoodies. We respect students’ right to wear clothing that is specific to their religious faith.
Attendance and punctuality.
Arrive at school by 8.50am for registration and tutor time.
Good Attendance = Minimum of 95% attendance.
Attend all timetabled lessons.
Students enjoy success. Students completing the Foundation Programme progress to further education or employment. Many of our students who came to Trinity have gone on to complete A Levels and to study at local colleges and enter into work.

Enrolment Form. The Foundation Programme is a popular pathway but we welcome all applications on a one to one basis throughout the year. We recommend that the Enrolment Form is completed at the earliest opportunity to ensure that a place can be secured.
